Violet iris

Iris is the Greek name for "rainbow", thanks to the multiple colours that it can have.

Vincent van Gogh has painted quite a few of famous irises.

You can find the iris on the coats of arms of a few royal families: Florence, House of Capet, Brussels and Ukraine to name a few.
